This invention disclosed the novel process for the synthesis of 2,6-di-t-butyl-4-mercaptophenol, which is an important intermediate in synthesis of ‌Probucol†and ‌AGI-1067â€. Probucal is a hypolipidemic drug that is useful in reducing plasma lipid levels, while AGI-1067 is atherosclerosis inhibitor.
