Direct Measurement Dynamic Numeric Controlled (DMDNC) Machines find the exact dimension of a job being machined at the tool position through proper measurement & calculations. Any variation (even in micrometers) in the actual dimension from that on drawing of the job being made is known to the machine & thus it can predict any defects during manufacture and can rectify it. The machine can as well apply NDT techniques along with machining process, which saves time of manufacture and helps in quality control. The Electronic Copy Turning Attachment for center lathe (based on DMDNC method) is an improvement over the hydraulic/pneumatic-controlled copy turning attachments already being used. It has been planned in two versions: Tool Room Version & Factory Automation Version. The Tool Room Version (TRV) of ECTA takes the dimension from the user, saves it, and copies the dimensions from the memory on to the job.
