An arrangement for producing a knitted fabric with a knitting device comprising knitting needles and a number of knitting positions is described. A drafted fibre strand is fed to each knitting position. At least one drafting device for drafting the fibre strands is arranged upstream of the knitting positions. It is provided that in the drafting device the distance between at least two fibre strands fed to different knitting positions measures less than 60 mm. The distance in the drafting device between at least three fibre strands measures advantageously less than 30 mm.
