A machine which produces vinyl acetate monomer batch wise at a temperature range of 95°C to 100°C from acetic acid and acetylene is disclosed. The heating basin 34 heats the water within it at 95°C to 100°C. The pipe coiling and the reaction vessel 4 placed centrally within the hot water. Acetylene gas gets heated during circulation through pipe coiling and comes in contact with hot acetic acid in presence of Hg++ ions catalyst within the reaction vessel 4 through contact holes 8,9,10,11 on the surface of the central steel pipe 7. The vapor rises up and condense to liquid within twelve steel pipes 13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24 which are within the water filled plastic cooler 25. The condensed liquid falls down to the reaction vessel 4 and again rises up in the form of vapor on contact with hot acetylene gas. In this way 60 Kg. of acetic acid gradually adds acetylene in presence of Hg++ ions catalyst in several cycles. After the end of reaction, distillation of the produced liquid at a temperature range of 75° to 80°C yields 82 to 85 Kg. of vinyl acetate. No. of Pages : No. of Claims :
