A method for genetic transformation in Arnebia species by Agrobacterium rhizogenes for the production of shikonin company the step of : sterlizing the explant of Arnebia species, inoculating the said sterilized explant in MS medium to form cluster of multiple shoots preparing LB medium for Agrobacterium culture to obtain single colonies of Agrobacterium rhizogenes, inoculating said colonies of Agrobacterium rhizogenes in LB medium in incubator, infecting said shoots arnebia species with Agrobacterium rhizogenes, co-cultivating said infected explats in MS medium subjecting the said cultures to the step of incubation in complete darkness, treating the infected shoots in a medium supplemented with anti biotic, subjecting the said shoots to the step of sub culturing in root culture medium extructing Shikonin derivatives from the roots.
