The invention concerns a device for controlling a polyphase rotating machine, said machine comprising a stator, a rotor, and sensors, said device being capable of receiving: at least one first sensing signal (U; V; W) representing a position of the rotor relative to the stator and output by a first sensor; and a second sensing signal (V; W; U) representing said position and phase-shifted relative to the first signal and output by a second sensor. According to the invention, the control device comprises: means (K, R) for combining the first and second sensing signals into a combined signal, said means including at least one controlled switching element capable adopting at least in two states, the combined signal being based on a state of the first element and enabling said machine to be controlled.
