A PROCESS FOR THE POLYMERIZATION OF AN OLEFIN OR OLEFIN MIXTURE
Application 2939/MAS/1997 published 2006-10-13, filed 1997-12-18
This invention relates to a process for the polymerization of an olefin or olefin mixture comprising ethylene, said process comprising contacting said olefin or olefin mixture at a temperature from 0 to 250°C with a catalyst composition comprising: 1) a metal complex, and 2) an activating cocatalyst, the molar ratio of 1) to 2) being from 1:10,000 to 100:1, said process characterized in that the metal complex corresponds to 10 the formula: wherein: R' is hydrogen, hydrocarbyl, or halohydrocarbyl of up to 20 carbons; M is titanium; R * each occurrence is independently hydrogen, or C1-20 hydrocarbyl; X¢ is halide, methyl or benzyl; X' is allyl, 2-(N,N-dimethylamino)phenyl, 2-(N,N-dimethylaminomethyl)- phenyl, and 2-(N,N-dimethylamino )benzyl; X" is l,3-pentadiene or 1,4-diphenyl-1,3-butadiene; p is 0, 1 or 2; and q and r are zero or one.
