A valve (100) includes valve housing having an upper body portion (20) and a lower body portion (30) and a generally spherical valve member (50). The upper (20) and lower (30) body housing sections define an internal chamber (16) for accommodating the valve member (50) and a central axis for the valve. The generally spherical valve member has an axial bore (52) extending therethrough. The valve assembly includes a ramming mechanism including cam lobes (60a, 60b) operatively valve member (50) and a cam pin (22) operatively associated with the upper valve body portion (20) for moving the valve member (50) between the open position and the closed position.
