In a spinning machine with spindles a rotor of a motor is placed on a shaft of the spindle between a spindle upper portion and a bearing unit containing an upper bearing and a lower bearing arranged at the lower end of the shaft. The bearing unit in turn is supported via a dampening pad and an electronic unit by a spindle rail.
