HIGH PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHIC METHOD OF ANALYSIS OF TANNIN MONOMERS PRESENT IN ANIMAL FEEDS.
Application 1132/DEL/2005 published 2006-12-01, filed 2005-05-04
This method described the estimation of different tannin monomers present in feed samples. Feed were hydrolysed with 2M sulphuric acid at 100 degree C. for 24h to get the tannin monomers. Tannin monomers were identified and quantified in filtrate after filtration of hydrolysed sample through grade 1 filter paper followed by 0.45m Millipore filter paper. The presence of tannin monomers in acacia nilotica (pods). Mangifera indica (kernel), shorea robusta (cake) and Madhuca indica (cake) were invented using the above method. All the samples produced gallic acid upon acid hydrolysis. Phloroglucinol was produced only in the case of shorea robusta. Catechin was produced by both shorea robusta and Mangifera indica. Epicatechin was produced in Madhuca indica. None of the condensed tannin hydrolyzed products e.g. catechin and epicatechin were detected in acacia nilotica pods. Presence of tannin monomers in above feeds were identified and estimated.
