A fuel pump unit 50 installed in a fuel tank includes a cup 51 having a lower part thereof protruded toward a lower part of the fuel tank. The cup is filled with a fuel retaining member 66 which surrounds a suction filter 61 housed in the cup 51, and is fixed by being pressed by a packing 55. In the packing 55, a cylindrical vertical wall 56 is integrally formed. A space inside this vertical wall 56 communicates with the cup 51 and inside of a fuel tank main body part positioned there above.
