The present invention concerns a drafting system with a drive provided with a regulating device for levelling out mass variations in a fibre mass supplied to the drafting system by a supply source in which arrangement the mass variations are detected by at least one measuring sensor co-ordinated to the drafting system and the corresponding signals are transmitted to a control unit. For eliminating problems arising in the layout of the storage units and for security reasons it is proposed that a further means is co-ordinated to the drafting system which is suitable for detecting differences between the delivery speed of the supply source and the intake speed of the drafting system and apply it for influencing the base rotational speed of the drafting system or to detect long tenn mass variations from a pre-detennined desired value in which arrangement these mass deviations detected are applied for influencing the base rotational speed of the drafting system.
