A PROCESS FOR THE ADDITION POLYMERIZATION.

Application 2136/MAS/1997 published 2006-10-20, filed 1997-09-26
The present invention relates to a process for the addition polymerization of ethylene, a mixture of ethylene, propylene and ethylidenenorbomene, or a mixture of ethylene and a C4-8.-olefin under solution polymerization conditions at a temperature from 25 to 200°C and a differential ethylene pressure from 70 to 7000 kPa in the presence of a catalyst composition comprising in combination: a1) a metal complex a2) a cocatalyst b) an aluminum compound, characterized in that the aluminum compound is a compound of the formula: R12A1(NR22), wherein R 1 and R2 independently each occurrence is a hydrocarbyl, silyl, halocarbyl, halohydrocarbyl, hydrocarbyl-substituted silyl, halocarbyl-substitutedsilyl, or halohydrocarbyl-substituted silyl group, said R1 and R2 having from 1 to 30 carbon, silicon, or mixtures of carbon and silicon atoms, and the molar ratio of a1): a2) being from 1:1 to 1:3 and the molar ratio of a1): b being from 1:5 to 1:30.
