A straight gripping attachment device comprising A plurality of bearing blocks, slats fitted on the said bearing blocks, pads mounted on said slats so that gripping surface of the pads is angular to the mounting surface of the device, a gripper shaft snugly fitted on the said bearing blocks with the bearings such that the said gripper shaft has free movement with bearing blocks without axial movement. Lever mounted at one end of the said gripper shaft, a pair of cam followers mounted on the said lever, a pair of cams substantially superimposed on each other associated to the said cam followers a plurality of collers fitted tightly on the said gripper shaft, a plurality of gripper holders joining the said collers with hex screw and gripper spring, gripping members fitted on the said gripper holders, coil springs provided intermittently on the said gripper shaft.
