A device for reducing fuel consumption during deceleration periods of a motor vehicle, comprising a chamber provided with a normally closed one-way air inlet valve; sensor means for connection' to the manifold of the vehicle for sensing vacuum pressure therein, said sensor-means, whenever the sensed vacuum pressure exceeds a predetermined value, causing the air inlet valve to open and thus let in atmospheric air in the chamber and thence into the pilot jet unit of the vehicle, thereby reducing the vacuum ,pressure, in the said unit, to the saiid predetermined value.
