A test rig for testing a control valve, said test rig comprises: - a pair of clamping cylinders between which a control valve (21) to be tested is clampable; - a load cell (27) aligned with a reciprocable spool (24) of said cylinder valve, and connected to a motor (26); - a first pressure transducer (14.1) connected to a hydraulic fluid pressure line (2S) connectible to the inlet of the control valve, and to a hydraulic fluid tank (1); - a hydraulic fluid return line (22) connected to said tank and connectible to an outlet of the control valve; - a second pressure transducer (14.2) connected to a fluid line (29) connectible to said control valve; - a hydraulic cylinder (17) connected to said fluid line and having a reciprocable piston, at the free end of which a weight (23) is suspended; - digital displacement meters (16, 19) connected to said load cell and said hydraulic cylinder; and - a programmable logic controller connected to said motor, load cell, displacement meters and pressure transducers.
