This invention relates to a method for preparing concrete or mortar in which a mixture of a known hydraulic binder, aggregates, water, and colloidal silica is prepared. The relative standard deviation of the particle size distribution by numbers of the colloidal silica is at least about 30%. The invention also relates to concrete or mortar obtainable by the method.
