The present invention discloses an applicator for powder product such as insecticide powder, used in the form of fine particles for dabbing over a surface for preventing encroachment of insects especially crawling insects such as cockroach, bugs, etc. the applicator 1 in accordance with the present invention comprises a support 2 which firmly holds a porous bag 6 containing a powder product such as an insecticide, a repellent, an attractant, an anti-feedant, bait or a combination thereof. The support 2 has a head part 2a preferably configured in the form of a substantially rounded, square or a rectangular object to facilitate gripping of the applicator by hand during use, and a skirt part 2b which is preferably frustro-conical in shape for shielding the user’s hands from contacting the surface of the bag 6 containing the powder product thereby providing safe use of the applicator.
