A gauge for saw mill comprising of a pair of arms (3) joint at their intermediate ends (13), two ends of said arms (22,21) fixedly joint to upper (7) and lower support plates (4) respectively and other two ends (9,20) having slidable joints to said support plates, said support plates spaced apart from each other, a nut (2) attached with the help of a threading nut (8) between a guide plate (1) and said upper support plate (7), said guide plate and said upper support plate connected with a hinge (10) in order to level the wood, a wheel (5) connected to the said lower support plate (4) with a leading screw (6) and nut (8) connected to said end (20), such that rotational movement of said wheel causes a transverse movement of said support plates, thereby causing a guide plate (1) to move longitudinally to vary the distance between the cutting blade (24) and the said guide plate to cut wood of a specific size.
