AN INSTRUMENT TO ASSESS FRICTIONAL BEHAVIOUR OF A SPINDLE-BOLSTER ASSEMBLY FOR RING FRAME AND LIKE TEXTILE MACHINES.

Application 165/MUM/2005 published 2006-09-01, filed 2005-02-16
The invention discloses an off-line instrument for assessing frictional behaviour of a spindle-bolster assembly of a textile machine comprising: a base plate (3) on which a motor (4) is vertically mounted, a lever assembly (B) with first lever arm (5) and second lever arm (6) mounted on the base plate which are free to oscillate about a fulcrum pin (7) on the base plate, a driven pulley (8) mounted on a stud (9) fixed on the base plate, a driving pulley (10) fixed to the motor shaft, a belt (11) moving around the driving and driven pulleys that rotates the test spindle (1) detachably fixed with its bolster (2) on the first lever arm, on its contact with the spindle (1) detachably fixed with its bolster (2) on the first lever arm , on its contact with the spindle wharve (13), a pulse generating element (21) affixed to the test spindle, pulse sensors (17,18) on the first lever arm that sense the pulse generated by the pulse generator to count the rpm and measure the pulse of the test spindle through RPM counter (19) and pulse counter (20) coupled to them, as the test spindle is set to rotate by swinging the second lever arm to establish contact between the belt and the spindle wharve and then releasing the contact, after a desired speed is attained as regulated by a speed regulator (23) electrically connected to the motor, by releasing stopper pin (16) from the stopper means (15) from a contact position to normal (no-contact) position retracted by a tension spring (14). An on-live version of the said instrument is also disclosed where the base plate is supported by a spindle adjacent to the test spindle in the ring frame. The invention also discloses methods of assessing the frictional behaviour of a spindle-bolster assembly by using the off-line and on-line instruments as above. Drawing: 11 Sheets. Total Pages: 40.
