A dampened bearing assembly comprising a roller element bearing having a raceway confining at least one roller element and a race with a bearing surface for bearing against a bearing surface of an adjacent component; and means for supplying a pressurized fluid to said bearing surface of the race for dampening transmission of impact of the roller element bearing with the adjacent component in use.
