AN OLEFIN POLYMERIZATION PROCESS.
Application IN/PCT/2001/479/CHE published 2006-09-01, filed 2001-04-03
This invention relates to an olefin polymerzation process comprising contacting one or more C2-C20 olefin monomers at a temperature from 0-250°C and a press4re from atmospheric to 10,000 atmospheres with a catalyst composition comprising one ot~ more Group 4 metal complexes and one or more activating cocatalysts selected from the group consisting of alumoxanes; neutral Lewis acids; ammonium-, phosphonium-, oxonium-, carbonium-, silylium- or sulfonium-salts of compatible. noncoordinating anions; ferrocenium salts of compatible, noncoordinating anions: and combinations thereof, characterized in that the Group 4 metal complex corresponds to the formula; wherein M is titanium, zirconium, or hafnium; Q independently each occurrence is chloride, CI-6 hydrocarby1, or dimethylamido, or two Q groups together are 1,4- diphenyl-1,3-butadiene; R 1 independently each occurrence is CI-4 alkyl, trimethylsily1 or phenyl; R2 independently each occurrence is hydrogen or CI-20 hydrocarby1 or two adjacent R2 groups are joined together, thereby forming a fused ring structure; and R3 is a CI-20 hydrocarbyl group.
