A POLYMERIC FLOCCULANT AND ITS PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURE
Application 631/KOL/2004 published 2006-08-04, filed 2004-10-06
Polymeric flocculants, in particular hydrolysed and unhydrolysed polyacrylamide grafted dextran. The polymeric flocculant .comprises atleast one of hydrolysed and unhydrated polyacrylamide grafted dextran having molecular weight in the range of 1.5 107 to 2.0 x 107 preferably 1.963 x107 g/mole conversion efficiency of 75.5 to 90 preferably 86.45 percentage of nitrogen in the range of 15.5 to 17 preferably 16.39 and degree of substitution in the range of 85 to 90 preferably 86.15. The polymeric flocculants of the degree of substitution to provide for the best flocculation characteristics. Importanly, the selective synthesized hydrolysed and unhydrolysed grafted polymer and dextran, would have, highest flocculation efficiency among various hydrolysed and unhydrolysed graft copolymers of other polysaccharides. The invention is further directed to a process for manufacture of the flocculants involving the high molecular weight detran polyacrylamide . The invention is found useful in water/fluid treatment involving above polymeric flocculants. (FIG. - nil)
