This invention relates to a process for regeneration of catalysts such as herein described for gas phase fluorination. In order to regenerate the activity of a catalyst for gas phase fluorination deactivated catalyst is treated with chlorine and hydrogen fluoride, at a temperature of between 250 and 450 C. The regeneration process is easy to implement and control industrially.
