A belt 10 possessing a belt length and comprising a belt body 12 comprising a cured elastomer composition; a tensile member 18 of helically spiraled cord embedded in the belt body and comprising a yarn comprising a carbon fiber possessing tensile modulus in the range of from about 50 GPa to about 350 GPa; a cord treatment composition comprising an elastomer latex coating at least a portion of said carbon fiber, and characterized in that: a) said cord treatment composition further comprises a resorcinol-formaldehyde reaction product; and b) the cord treatment composition possesses at least one of an elastic modulus at 200 C in the range of from about 1.0 x6 Nm2 to about 5.0 x 107 Nm2 and an elastic modulus at 1000C in the range of from about 5.0 x 105 Nm-2 to about 4.0 x 107 Nm-2.
