An edible coating to extend the shelf life of carrots comprising 4-6% w/v casein, 30-60% v/v of ammoniuim hydroxide solution, 4-6% w/v turmeric powder, 30-50% w/v preferably green neem leaves, 30-50% v/v of propylene glycol, polyvinyl alcohol solution, 0.8 to 1.2% w/v ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid, 0.8 to 1.2 each of potassium sorbate and calcium propionate.
