There is disclosed a single and double effect absorption refrigerating machine, in which a diluted 5absorption liquid flowing into a low heat source regenerator is not self-flashed even though heat is not supplied to the low heat source regenerator, thereby decreasing heat loss. The single and double effect absorption refrigerating machine comprises a low- temperature heat exchanger El in which absorption liquids entering and exiting an absorber 2 exchanges heat with each other~ a high temperature heat exchanger E2 in which absorption liquids entering and exiting a high- temperature heat exchanger exchanges heat with each other; a refrigerant drain heat recovery device E4 in which a part of the absorption liquid carried from the absorber 2 to a low heat source regenerator 9 is heated by exchanging heat with a refrigerant drain condensed in a low-temperature regenerator 6; and an intermediate heat exchanger E3 in which the absorption liquid carried from the low-temperature regenerator 6 to the absorber 2 exchanges heat with the absorption liquid carried from the low heat source regenerator 9 to the high-temperature regenerator s.
