The present invention relates to a method of cutting a metal rail road wheel with a central hub comprising the steps of; providing a sheet having a plurality of sides to be cut; providing a cutting apparatus with a movable lead torch and a movable second torch for cutting the object; moving the lead torch to an initial position near the wheel; energizing and moving the lead torch to cut through a part of the wheel; moving the second torch to an initial position near the wheel; energizing and moving the second torch toI cut through a part of the wheel; wherein the lead and second torches are I' capable of being moved independently of one another and are each on the I same side of the wheel aligned with at least one common location on thewheel at different times; and the cut made by the second torch meets the cut made by the lead torch.
