In an absorption process for recovery of a desired component and all I components heavier than the desired component from a feed gas stream containing components of varying degrees of volatilities wherein the feed gas stream is counter- currently contacted in an absorber column with a lean solvent stream comprised of the heaviest components present in the feed gas stream, the improvement comprising pre- saturating the lean solvent with the lighter undesired components of the feed gas stream obtained from the overhead stream of the absorber column.
