: “Composite Materials for membrane Reactors”

Application 3036/DEL/1998 published 2006-07-21, filed 1998-10-14
A composite material for membrane reactors, which composite material comprises a dense ceramic membrane of the kind such as herein described comprising a crystalline mixed metal oxide which exhibits, at operating temperatures, electron conductivity, oxygen ion conductivity, and ability to separate oxygen from a gaseous mixture containing oxygen and one or more other components by means of the conductivities; a porous support comprising an alloy of at least two metallic elements which support exhibits mechanical stability at operating temperature; and an interfacial zone of chemical interaction exist between the porous support and the membrane of at least about 5 um in thickness having a gradient of composition, across the interfacial zone in at least one metallic element.
