This invention relates to a self-preserving natural cosmetic hair/skin care composition. This natural cosmetic hair/skin care composition comprises following ingredients: i. Saponins extracted from the rind of the fruits of sapindus mukorossi/trifoliatus/emarginatus ii. A plant based surfactant, alkylpolyglycoside, which may be a C12-C16 fatty alcohol polyglycoside and mixtures thereof with (i); iii. Optionally a plant based natural conditioning agents; and iv. Optionally a cosmetically acceptable vehicle, which may be a gel, a cream of lotion. Also process for preparing said natural cosmetic hair/skin care composition is disclosed.
