Application 703/BOM/1999 published 2006-05-26, filed 1999-10-14
A process that imparts 1) Homogenous and finer particle size distribution with increase in surface area. 2) Opens up new adsorption sites. 3) Decreases interplanner spacing of the mineral structure. 4) Increase porosity. Enhancing the overall litter properties of pet litter made from attapulgite mineral. A process that consists of crushing lumps into 10-12 mm granules, mixing in a pug mixer with 30% to 35% water to make homogeneously mixed dough of the mineral attapulgite, extruding in an extruder at a pressure of 3000 kg/cm2 into noodles, which are dried at 90ÂșC to reduce the moisture level from about 30% to 10%, granulation and sieving to separate the required size.
