. ELECTROLYTIC PROCESS FOR THE PURIFICATION OF WASTEWATER

Application 524/DEL/2004 published 2006-05-26, filed 2004-03-19
The present invention relates to an electrolytic process for the treatment of waste water using the principles of electro-precipitation, electro-coagulation and electro-flotation techniques and the said process comprising step wise processing of wastewater through electrolytic reactors. In the first reactor, precipitation of reducible contaminants is ensured. Coagulation of contaminants besides flotation is ensured in the second electrolytic reactor. Remaining contaminants are totally mineralized and excess coagulant is separated as froth in the third reactor. Coagulant thus separated is re- circulated by mixing with fresh wastewater. Contaminats collected as froth from first and second electrolytic reactors are removed mechanically into a separate launder from where it is sent to a filter press. Water thus filtered is directed to mix with the purified water coming out of the first electrolytic reactor for further purification.
