A method of providing an article of manufacture, the method comprising providing a VAR ingot of nickel base alloy comprising; 50.0 to 55.0 weight percent nickel; 17 to 21.0 weight percent chromium; 0 to 0.08 weight percent carbon; 0 up to 0.35 weight percent manganese; 0 up to 0.35 weight percent silicon; 2.8 up to 3.3 weight percent molybadenum; at least one of niobium and tantalum wherein the sum of niobium and tantalum is 4.75up to 5.5 weight percent; 0.65 up to 1.15 weight percent titanium; 020 up to 0.8 weight percent aluminum; 0 up to 0.006 weight percent boron; and iron and incidental impurities, wherein the VAR ingot has a diameter of greater than 30 inches; and fabricating the article of manufacture from the VAR ingot.
