A rotor for a magneto, the said rotor comprising : (i) an inverted rotor cup having an operative roof member with a central hole and a peripheral cylindrical wall extending from the roof, said roof member and side walls defining a cavity; (ii) tapered bush fitted rigidly to the rotor cup at the central hole by means of rivets, wherein the roof member is provided with a depression around the hole to enable the outer surface of the roof member to be substantially flush with the rivet heads mounting the tapered bush to the rotor cup and the side walls of the rotor cup have additional length of at least 15%, thereby increasing the moment of inertia of the rotor without significantly altering the clearance between the inner end wall surface of the tapered bush and the free edge of the side wall of the rotor cup.
