The invention relates to an improved heald (2) comprising an elastic means (14) on the end eye (7) thereof, said means elastically supporting the end eye (7) on a heald carrying rail (3) in at least one direction. The elastic means (14) is used to avoid any play between the heald (2) and the heald frame (1). This measure enables the working speed of mechanical weaving looms to be increased. (FIG. - 1)
