The invention relates to a special steel cooking vessel comprising a bottom (12), outer side surfaces (13), an inner surface (15) to said bottom, round surfaces (15) pertaining to said bottom and inner side surfaces (17). The inner surface of the bottom (15), the round surfaces (15) of the bottom and the inner side surfaces (17) form surfaces that face the items that are to be cooked. At least one part of the surface facing the items that are to be cooked have a hard rolled/burnished surface. The inventive method to produce one such cooking vessel includes a surface treatment step, whereby hard rolling/burnishing is applied to at least the above-mentioned part of the inner surface (15) of the cooking vessel (11). A specifically planar rolled surface is obtained and surface properties are adjusted by means of selection of the curves of the trajectory, along which a locally defined pressure is exerted onto the surface in a normal direction, and the feed motion.
