A process of manufacturing steel drum having external reinforcing of round seam comprises steps of: making steel cylindrical open end drum by resistance welding along longitudinal joint; making dish end cover with end flanges, one for top cover with filling openings and another bottom cover without any opening; making annular groove at the edge of the said dish end covers; making a cylindrical vertical member one end curled and other end with flange; placing the dish end cover over the open end of drum with the flange of dish end over lapping the said flange drum; placing the said curled end of said vertical member over lapping the said groove and flange at other end of said vertical member over lapping the said flange of dish end; and folding the said over lapping flanges with rubber sealing compound between the gap together to form double or triple seam joint of over lapping flanges.
