A process for preparing a photo-degradable polymeric composition comprising the steps - preparing a partially degradable polymer by thermal oxidation of an oxidisable organic polymer in the presence of an organic salt of transition metal and oxygen; - mixing the above said partially degradable polymer with a thermoplastic organic polymer in ratio of 0.1-40% : 60-99.9%, so as to obtain the photo-degradable polymer composition.
