" A PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF A NI-BASED SUPERALLOY AND ARTICLES THEREOF"

Application 2408/DEL/1996 published 2006-12-08, filed 1996-11-01
This invention relates to a process for the preparation of a Ni-based superalloy comprising of the steps of preparing an alloy charge by mixing of in weight percentage of 1.4-4.4 Cr, 3-8 Co, 5-7.5 W, 4.8-7.5 Re, 7.5-10 Ta, 4,8-5.8 Al, 0.1-0.5 Nb, 0.1-0.2 Hf, 0.01-0.05 Y, the balance is Ni; melting the alloy charge prepared by step (a) at a temperature of 1500°C in a vaccum induction melting furnace; pouring the said melt into a mould; withdrawing the mould containing melt in a conventional manner; subjecting the melt to a step of freezing; removing and cleaning each pair of cast longitudinal halves and subjecting them to solution heat treatment; subjecting the brazed and solutionised components obtained by step (f) to a step of quenching; subjecting the components obtained by step (g) to a multistep ageing treatment.
