In these days of frequent infections due to bacteria and virus we are to face lot of problems owing to such infections specially on different organs. As we observe that we are experiencing such a highly infectious disease of eye commonly known as conjunctivitis that affects people of any locality rapidly in the form of epidemic. In fact there is no effective medicine for Conjunctivitis. The usual treatment of which is mentioned below : - Generally in case of little infection it helps to bathe the eyes with water or water with a pinch of salt in it. Conjunctivitis is often very contagious. It is necessary to wash hands after touching infected eyes (or our child’s eyes, if we are nursing them), as it is very easy to infect others by spreading the germs on our fingers or on tissues etc. In the case of a bacterial infection, we need antibiotic eye drops or ointment. In some rare infections, antibiotics are also given by mouth. If the problem is due to a virus infection, then it will not respond to antibiotics, and our body will have to fight off the infection. Doctors may prescribe drops or ointment, or both. Drops stay in the eyes for a shorter period, but ointment tends to blur the vision. Sometimes the doctor may prescribe drops by day, with ointment at night. But the treatment is not comfortable and so effective.
