"POWER CAPACITOR"

Application 2562/DELNP/2005 published 2007-04-06, filed 2005-06-13
The present invention relates to a method for pre-soldering of capacitor elements included in power capacitors. A capacitor element 1 for a capacitor is wound from two electrically conducting aluminium foils 2 and 3, respectively, which constitute the electrodes of the capacitor element. The foils are separated by electrically insulating films 4 of a dielectric material. The aluminium foil 2, which constitutes one electrode, is arranged at one end surface of the capacitor element so as to project outside the edge of the polymer films 4, whereas at the same end surface of the capacitor element, the edge of the adjacent aluminium foil 3, serving as an opposite electrode, is arranged with its edge inside the edge of the polymer films 4. The end 5 of the capacitor element thus consists of a flattened roll of the aluminium foil 2 only. At the end 5 of the capacitor element, a lead 7 is connected to the aluminium foil 2 with a solder 8. The lead to the aluminium foil, which constitutes an electrode, by soldering. To make possible this soldering, a pre-soldering is required. The object of the invention is to make possible an automated manufacturing method for pre-soldering. This is achieved by dipping a solder tip into a solder bath, whereby the solder tip is heated to a suitable temperature and solder adheres to the solder tip by capillary forces. Thereafter, the solder tip applies the solder to the element surface. The invention also comprises equipment for pre-soldering .
