Electrostatic precipitators are used for collecting dust particles from dust—laden gases. For example in a thermal power plant electrostatic precipitator is used for collecting fly ash from exhaust gas or flue gas from furnace.. The collected dust particles are dislodged from electrode plates using tumbling hammer mechanism. The hammer mechanism is driven by rapping motors Rapper controller switches ON/OFF those rapping motors, when necessary. Rapper controller is designed using microprocessor and has standby configuration.. Main controller is called MASTER and standby controller is called SLAVE.. MASTER and SLAVE are interfaced to provide highly reliable rapper controller configuration. During failure of MASTER, SLAVE will continue to control rapper motors and hands over control to MASTER when MASTER. becomes healthy. (FIG.1)
