An improved cable device has prewired and preconfigured suitable multicore cable with connectors at both ends. Connector IEC-62056-21/PACT/ANSI optical or RJ11, RJ-45, USB, RS-232 9Pin /15 Pin connector or combination of both optical & hardwired connectivity provided between meter and the connector on cover or base of the meter box. One end of cable device is connected to meter and other one to connector on meter box. This ensures that seals are not tampered with and meter box not opened for meter data downloading using MRI. Cover of connector on meter box can be opened easily from outside of the box by unscrewing of the screws holding the cover. Thus data downloading is achieved in less time. Connector with a protective cover is fixed on base or cover of the meter box. It is an easy and simple device to do away with any attributable human errors. An improved cable device eliminates tampering.
