Disclosed herein are methods for synthesizing (N-(4-flnorobenzyl-N-(1- methlpiperidin)4-yl)-N'-(442-methyl-propyloxy)phenylmethyl)carbemide, Formula (1). Also disclosed herein is the hemitartrate salt of N-(4-flouroben-zyl)- N-(I-methylpiperidin-4-yl)-N'-(4-2-methylpropyloxy)phenylmethyl)carbarmide and methods for obtaining the salt. Further disclosed are various crystalline forms of N-(4-fluoroben-zyl)-N-(I-methylpiperdin-4-yl)-N'-(4-2-metyl-propyloxy)- phenymethyl)carbarmide and its hemi-tartate salt including various polymorphs and solvates.
