The present invention is directed to novel crystalline forms of Rebeprazole sodium. These crystalline forms of Raberprazole sodium are designated as Form X and Form Y for convenience. The present invention further provides a process for the preparation of novel crystalline Form X and Form Y of Rabeprazole sodium, which is a commercially viable process and well suited for industrial scale up.
