Spur-gear mechanism, especially a bevel spur-gear mechanism, that includes one or more transmission stages. The transmission stages are accommodated in a gear mechanism housing that has two side surfaces (16, 17), and two base surfaces. The side surfaces (16, 17) and the base surfaces (20, 21) are provided with cooling ribs (18, 19, 27). A drive shaft (5) is guided out of the gear mechanism housing and an axial fan wheel (30) is fixedly disposed thereon externally of the gear mechanism housing. Furthermore, a spacer flange (7) for the connection to a motor spacer (31) is provided, whereby the spacer flange (7) is formed on the gear mechanism housing. In this connection, the spacer flange is provided with central openings (24) in the extension of the base surfaces (20, 21) of the gear mechanism housing and with lateral openings (23) in the extension of the side surfaces (16,17) of the gear mechanism housing.
