Home controller for lighting system and appliances is a modular decentralized standalone system for controlling a plurality of electrical appliances in an enclosed zone of a residential/nonresidential building like a living / bed / office room, replacing the conventional electrical switch panel with an attractive, compact control panel providing a backlit LCD display and a simple keypad for easy user interface along with a host of other useful safety features. The system also provides control through a ". handheld IR remote and hence controls the status of appliances. The system stores the control instructions and user input data in non-volatile memory. The control of appliances is through relays housed in the unit, which replace the manual switches to provide automation functions. The system setup functions and schedule time setting for automatic actuation are password protected to provide limited access. By positioning the control unit in place of the main switch panel in a room where the various electrical outlet wires terminate, there is no need for external wiring and the module becomes a plug in replacement even in existing buildings providing the additional comfort of remote actuation and auto actuation as per schedules with a host of other useful features such as a time and termperature display. Light dimming and fan speed control, room temperature setting for AC control and reminder alanns. Another unique feature is the integrated backup switch panel for control under main controller failure conditions.
