This invention relates to a process for preparation of inhibition system for double base (DB) propellants comprising the steps of: Preparation of an inhibition composition by mixing dried polyether polyol with a curative preferably aliphatic disocyanate followed by the stirring the said mixture with a filler such as melamine followed by further stirring by addition of a catalyst like dibutyl tin dilaurate; Preparing a formulation for chemical coating of the DB propellantls by reacting a mixture of triethanol amine and hexamethylene diisocyanate with dichloromethane solvent, followed by casting the inhibitor composition over the said coated DB propellants.
