A digital television system comprising a decoder (13) for receiving a plurality of channels comprising at least one channel and a service channel, and a display (14), the decoder (13) comprising means (31) for generating a service menu (61) for display on said display (14) superimposed over a programme (60) transmitted on one of said received channels, said service menu (61) comprising a list of a plurality of services available to a user; characterized in that said generating means (31) is arranged to generate, upon user selection of one of said listed services from the service menu, at least one subsidy menu (65) for display on said display (14) superimposed over said programme together with only the selected one of said listed services to provide the user with a plurality of options for accessing at least one of said received channels.
